Point 2: you don't need to "pick a diet". Just eat what you want to meet your calorie goal

yep, for you and me.. but for some people they have such massive psychological issues around food they have to adhere to some form of a specific diet & avoid trigger foods etc.... I can't relate to this directly, I'm the same as you I just eat anything I want as long as I'm hitting my calorie & macro goals.

Excellent but I would reword 1 to say, Be happy with who you are.

"Choose a diet" is fine. Diet can mean just "way of eating". I've chosen my own diet, not from any book, but based on my own preferences, and with help from many sources.

Three good keys. It's not an oversimplification in my opinion. Lots of people don't "believe" in this simple concept :s It's a simplification, but that doesn't make it untrue or unhelpful. I would maybe suggest a fourth key, "don't create a too large deficit", but maybe not, that's implicit in the "enjoy" bit.

    Interesting.

If I'm happy with my current situation I would find no reason to change.

I accept that and I am happy you are trying to change.
