Does excess sugar/fat etc contribute to weight gain when you're under your calorie limit?

I try to reach my calorie goal every day or get very close to it. But sometimes I eat an extra 15g of fat or carbs etc. My question is, does excess of those cause weight gain even if I'm under my calorie goal? Thanks!

No. Not for pure weight loss. Macros have more to do with body composition and muscle building (or maintenance). The number on the scale is simply a reflection of number of calories consumed vs expended.

Carbs stick to me more than fruit/veggies/protein. I know that I lose weight more slowly when I'm using my calories on carbs, but I don't know if there is a science behind it or if it's just body type.

Fruits and veggies are mostly carbs...
