Please tell me " to quilt" is not some euphemism for some private sport with a load of feathers?

I'm glad somebody posted this. Seriously, I have a legitimate rant. I have my original Poncho Liner from 1972, when I was a Marine. Over the years I have been saving my Levis as I grew out of them or they have worn out. I have always wanted to use the Poncho Liner as the quilt liner and cut squares from the Levis to create a quilt that I could use as a bedroll on my motorcycle. My wife loves to sew, so does my youngest daughter and my sister-in-law. I have hinted around many times that I wanted this bedroll created. For decades. No one has offered to help me out. The closest thing I ever got was a Camo Quilt that my wife bought me for Christmas many years ago, Not the same thing.

I guess I am going to have to take some sewing classes and do it myself. Or take the materials to a professional. Soon, because I have about 30 pairs of Levis I have saved up for this project.

just ask and if they say no tell them cryptically you may 'have to take your quilting needs somewhere else to be satisfied'

I retire in 3 years. Going to take a sewing class and do it myself.

But keep away from bedazzlers, though. They always go too far.

Mrs Jruzer does both. She says the quilters are a lot crazier than the knitters.

I've never quilted before...but if I did, I'd do it while drinking Chocolate Milk and having Seinfeld on in the background!@Maximus

@TheRoadDog OK, here's the trick... start getting everything out like you're going to do it yourself...scissors, a pile of jeans, the liner etc. Put it in the middle of the floor or the table ...wherever it's going to be right in the way of everything. Now start struggling with it which might not be to hard since you've shared you don't know how sew yet.

You won't have to wait too long and someone will sigh and pick it all up and say "Oh here give me that! I'll do it so it's not in the middle of everything!" The quilt you've always wanted? It will be done before you know it!

You're welcome... and if that doesn't work... stop hinting and say the only thing I want for Father's Day is for someone to start my Quilt so I can have it by Fall!

You can always start sobbing if need be... >:)

Edited: to add missing words and make it more readable, lol

I love to quilt! I made my parents a back of the couch quilt for each holiday. And then when they got new curtains I bought an additional panel and used it in a quilt so it matches perfectly!

I do this weird way of binding though. Instead of the pillowcase method, or using long stripes of being, I cut my backside about 5 inches to large, and then fold it over the front. it looks almost like a picture frame. Does anyone else do this? I know some other quilters and they always look at me like I am crazy when I do it that way......
