What's your "extra gear?"

I call it "the fat suit."

It's a shirt with pockets all over it that hold gel packets. When all the packets are inserted, the shirt weighs 8 pounds. The weight is very well distributed, so the shirt is relatively comfortable.

Until you use it in your workout.

Today I came off of a restful night and a perfect breakfast. It's a cardio day but no mountain biking because the kids are out of school. I resigned myself to Max 30, but I felt like I needed something more.

It was ugly, but I did a Max 30 workout (with abs at the end) and a bunch of pushups wearing "the fat suit." It was a great reminder of what I weighed before I started this whole MFP thing. I am officially cooked.

What's your extra gear? How do you mix things up and add an extra challenge to your workouts on the days you feel awesome?

Honestly, I just do my prescribed reps and sets at my prescribed percentages. My coach and I have goals for the next two years and everything is building into those goals.

We just had the conversation yesterday that sticking with the plan day in day out produces mind blowing results. I can't wait to see where I am in two years.

I add more weight to the bar when I want a challenge or feel great that day. Maybe a couple of extra reps or attempt a PR.

Add weight to the bar for lifting.

For riding, I ride with a backpack on with between 25lbs to 50lbs sometimes.

Although, I have to call you out as this was obviously just a thread to show yourself shirtless, so bravo on "attempting" to hide that fact ;)

    All in fun...

I'm not at that point yet! I got nothing on most people here. That said, I am a fan of body pics. It helps me guage where I am, and seeing them from others helps keep me motivated!

Sometimes when I go backpacking I bring my nice camera. That's an extra 10 lbs, on top of my tent, sleeping bag, cooking gear, etc. But it's worth it.
