Pain behind my knee during and after running

Hey!

I've recently taken up running again and have developed a pain behind one of my knees. It came out of nowhere and I've never had a pain there before.

The pain is basically with me all the time and it's quite annoying.

I broke my ankle awhile back (fully recovered) and know I had a lot of muscle loss in both legs because of this.

Has anyone had this pain before? Do I need to incorporate strength training? Any advice would be awesome!

 Thanks!

Please go see an orthopedic specialist. Consistent pain is not good.

As far as strength training my recommendation is go see an orthopedist.
Without proper medical attention and depending on what's causing the pain you could do some serious damage inside your knee.

Ice your knee, and make and appointment with an orthopedist.

Runners should incorporate strength training to prevent muscle imbalances and injuries, but since you're having knee pain now is not the time to incorporate it on your own.

Stretch, stretch and stretch some more. A regular stretching routine has saved me from every sports related injury I've had.
