steps calorie adjustment

I just figured out that Myfitnesspal also supports tracking steps.
I used to track my steps before and I do about 10-12k steps a day (without exercise) and set my activity level on active in my diet profile.

Now I connected the MFP to my iPhone step counter, it added some "steps calorie adjustment" to my dairy. These calories do confuse me. I already set my activity to the second highest level as possible so I already have more calories available in general due the fact I walk a lot.

But now I got even more?

Does the "steps calorie adjustment" care about the activity level or is it legit double tracking my steps and I should disable it?

I don't know about iPhones, but the steps with FitBit is pretty accurate for most people. MFP shouldn't be double tracking, but instead comparing actual against your stated activity level.

There is also a setting (on MFP) for negative adjustments. If you stay connected you want to enable this if there are days when you are less active than your stated activity level.

You should set your activity level to "sedentary" if you are tracking exercise or steps.

    Is this an iPhone thing?

OP - with Fit Bit you set your activity level to what you think it normally is. This way the adjustments aren't huge every day. They are simply a comparison to stated vs. actual......you only get a bump when more active than usual.

I have used the iPhone steps tracker and map my run at the same time. The distances measured by the two apps was identical.

I set my activity as sedentary and count the steps. It's working well for me-just slightly undercounting calories burned.

I guess I will set my activity level down to sedentary and compare the calories I burned by walking and the calories MFP recommends me for my actual activity level. Should be the easiest way to find out how much I actually burn and if it's acurate and not double tracking calories.

I will buy a fitbit soon too for accuracy.
