Senna Leaves

I bought me some tea that has senna leaves in it. I saw all the information about it and I did use it for a couple days. It does work (and I mean it) but I've also seen some people who have stopped using the product due to the senna leaves leaving a dye on the walls of the intestines (for colonoscopy and detecting pollups) and it causes an irritation to the lining of the intestines (hince the laxative effect). I read that it take little time to have your body resume a normal function once you stop drinking the tea. It does state on the tea box that you should only use this product a maximum a week then break from it.
I'm not promoting the laxative aspect as a way to lose weight (that's stupid).
I'm just wanting to know has anyone else use this product? What is your take on it?

Did you buy the tea because you require a laxative or did you purchase it as a weight loss aid?
Laxatives aren't effective for weight loss and they can lead to subsequent health issues. If you're having occasional trouble with your bowels, a laxative might be a good way to move things along, but you should never have to drink it for a solid week and then take a break. If you need laxative tea for a week, you should talk to a doctor.1 -
Laxatives should only be used when needed. I didn't know about it causing problems with coloniscopies, but that's a good reason why. If you need to use them frequently or for a week at a time, you should see a doctor and find out what else could be wrong, and then only continue use if the doctor reccommends it.
If you aren't constipated, don't use senna.0 -
Abuse of laxatives can cause lazy bowels so only use when in dire need.1

Nah, I didn't buy them for weight loss. I bought it when I have bouts of constipation; not only for me but for my husband as well.0 -

No....I only did one tea bag this week and it worked for me. I'm not abusing it. And yeah, if someone needs to use it for a week, they should see a doctor.0
