Hi everyone,
I am a 25year old student and have realised a lot of my calories at the weekend come from alcohol. Can anyone recommend a low cal drink or do you have any tips to keep it down!
Thank you!

I stick with red wine OR some sort of rum and diet coke. I don't know if those are necessarily healthy.... but atleat its DIET coke
If you like beer they have low cal/low carb ones. I know someone that is diabetic that has found beer that works well for his sugar issues....
Also learn to have fun without drinking. If your friends egg you on, go up to the bartender alone and order a regular diet coke without the rum and ask them to put the coctail straw and lemon/lime in it to make it look alcoholic. Your friends don't need to know you don't have alcohol in there
I only drink heavily maybe 3 times a year. And when I say heavily, I had 4 rum & diets over the last weekend... that is heavy for me. Just don't need it to have a good time!0 -

Thank you! The low cal beer is a good idea! I often go out and don't drink but when I do I tend to go a bit mad! I was thinking of making every second drink a sparkling water or something too! Maybe I could even get the low cal beer and mix it with a diet 7up to make shandies and make the drink last longer!
You're right though, a lot of pressure comes from the people you're with to drink more! Particularly here in Ireland0 -
Wow. It's great seeing it spelt out like that!
Thank you!0 -
This could work even if you aren't on a diet to help you stay sober. Try one alcohol to every two waters. i.e. vodka & tonic/water/water/vodka & tonic/water/water. BUT, if you are trying to loose weight you need to cut alcohol out of your system because it will dehydrate you and you need to stay hydrated while dieting and exercising.0

That's a really easy plan to save calories, make every other drink is calorie free if you switch it out with sparkling water. ask for a twist of lemon or lime.0

Yes alcohol is the monster of all evils when you enjoy socialising!
These days i tend to go with soda water and a twist of lime or if i'm feeling paticularly cheeky i'll throw a shot of vodka in there which has about 55 calories per shot. Trick for me is to keep it a long drink so i don't go overboard! Gin is also about 56 calories if you prefer something different but as the previous post mentioned, white wines are the way to go if you really want to enjoy your drink.
I found the list below which might help you too if you fancy something different.

Here is some decent info: http://fatlossschool.com/blog/low-calorie-alcohol-drinks/
Then at the bottom there is another link to low calorie cocktail drinks, including Mojito, Caipirinha, blood mary etc..... Which I really like Mojitos.
Have fun0 -
I am a fan of Diet Mountain Dew and Vodka. Mixed about 1 oz of vodka per 9 oz of Dew. For a 20 ounce drink you are looking at 128 calories and 2 or 3 will have you happy as heck!0
-
oh my goodness...i had no idea there were so many calories. I don't drink often, but when i do, it's insane - SO THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP!0
-
Ah thank you for all the advice guys! I LOVE mojitos so must look into that receipe. Think the vodka, sparkling water and lime will be my tipple of choice from now on!0
