UK Spaghetti Squash?

So I've got a spiralizer. And so I went to make some spaghetti bolognese! Now I know the most popular vegetable to use is courgette (zucchini for Americans?) however I'm quite fussy and don't like it. So I went for squash. I used butternut squash and it was okay but not overly nice. Online the best thing to use is apparently spaghetti squash. Its texture is better for spaghetti and has a blander flavour. I cant find that at all in the UK ! Do we not sell it?

Doing a quick google will tell you where you can find them. Usually found in organic stores, But they are only sold in Autumn/winter months when it's in season.

They often have them (autumn) in Waitrose in the veggi section under seasonal squash

Spaghetti squash does seem to be more popular in the US - it turns up a lot in recipes from over there but I've never seen it in the shops here: the only place I've been able to get it is from veg box companies or farmers' markets. As nicnz says, it's really an autumn / winter crop so you're unlikely to find them at this time of year.

You won't need your spiralizer for a spaghetti squash if / when you do find one - all you need to do is cook it (either boil it whole if you have a big enough pan or halve it, remove the seeds then bake) and the cooked flesh comes out in spaghetti-type strands naturally. Like you I'm not fond of courgettes, but I love spaghetti squash - my Dad used to grow them when I was a kid and they're still a real favourite of mine.

Only place I've found it is an online farm place (UK) & that only in late autumn. You have to buy minimum of 5kg. https://www.bigbarn.co.uk/marketplace/vendors/holmselect~HolmSelect_March_PE15_organicapsaragus_organicglobeartichokes_organicsquash
You can see my review (Christie). This place is brill for buying all types of squash & seasonal produce.
