strength vs cardio

I'm trying to lose weight via eating between 1200-1300 calories a day which is roughly a 200-300 calorie deficit. I am starting to exercise too but would like to know what other people think about just cardio, just strength or a 50/50 split?
My aim is to aid my weight loss and tone up.
What do you do and what do you think would work?

Why not use both? You don't need to choose just one.

I found lifting on M/W/F and cardio T/Sa worked well for me.1

I choose to be fit & strong so I do both.
Cardio also gives you a higher food allowance while maintaining a suitable calorie deficit which (for me) makes adherence much easier.
Strength training gives you a much higher chance of actually looking like you hoped you would when you get to goal weight.4 -

Both. Cardio to help you gain some extra calories back in your diet and to lose fat (IE: make sure when you eat some of those calories back you don't eat junk food), and strength (can even be just body weight training) to build muscle. Keep up your protein levels and have at both. I've been doing it for almost a year now and feel great (stronger, less fat %, and body recomp is going well because of it). I do them both on the same days, cardio first then I transition into strength training to keep my HR up, but you can do them on opposite days just as easily.0

Both are equally as important0

I do both, but more heavy on the cardio because I like it and a select group of bodyweight strength and flexibility exercises that complement my cardio goals (stable core, not too tight calves, good glutes for force generation, good back and shoulders for form...etc).
You don't have to pick one type of exercise. Do what you feel is sustainable, enjoyable and complements your goals.1 -
You want a good mix of strength, cardio, and flexibility training.1

Both. Cardio burns off calories.
Strength speeds up metabolism.1 -
Do your body good, do BOTH!1

M W F lift
Tue Thurs cardio
Stretch
Recomp happens with lifting. If you want to look lean you need it.1 -
Both, but you will find your probably favor one. I favor lifting and do it 4 days a week and cardio only 1.0

Both.
I strength train T,T,S and cardio M, W, F.1 -
You can do both. I only do one but I hate cardio and if I have to do it I might just quit fitness all together.
But definitely lift.1
