Hi, I have had tonsilitis for 3 days my tonsils are so inflamed it's left me with aching ears and a weak body. Should I still work out? I haven't worked out for 3 days now and I am worried as I've worked so hard to shift weight and I don't want it to pile back on

Let your body rest if you are sick.
I normally power through if it's just a cold, but otherwise your body needs rest to recover.
Have you seen a doctor and been given antibiotics or is it viral? If it's viral then your body has to fight it, and it can't do that when it's being pushed even further by working out.

Doc has given antibiotics and the difflam spray. I feel sad I don't want to gain any weight it probably sounds silly but it's a huge fear for me

Ah you should be feeling better shortly then just stick to the corse of your medications and use the spray.
I used to get loads of throat infections and tonsillitis and the difflam spray used to help so hopefully you'll be feeling more like yourself soon!

Working out would be the last thing I'd do! Rest and enjoy the downtime!

Thank you guys. I'm confined to the sofa. Reluctantly feeling guilty for not doing any firm of activity apart from housework :-/

In my youth I was foolish, and fuelled my anxiety and fear of gaining weight i forced myself to workout through anything, illness and injury. Well it did my body absolutely no good at all. I was left feeling drained and achy even when the illness was gone because I didn't give my body a chance to rest and heal properly. Now I rest when i am sick/injured and come back strong when I am better. You will not loose all you worked hard for in a few days, just like a few days of working out and eating right won't spontaneously make you thin and athletic. Let your body rest and come back strong when you are healthy. Don't worry.

I have had at least 1 bout of tonsillitis a year for the last 20 years or so and I don't know about u but between the swollen painful tonsils, aching ears, high fever and aching body I couldn't work out even if I wanted to and working out is the furthest thing from my mind when tonsillitis strikes. Do your body a favor and rest, you won't undo your progress by not exercising for a few days plus if you're anything like me you're pretty much not eating anything right now anyways.

If you are sick then rest. You can wear yourself down even more. You won't pack all the weight back on that you have lost that quickly.

Please stay home. Your body needs rest plus Tonsillitis is contagious
