How do you motivate yourself to eat and drink when sick?

I have had a very sore throat and bad cold for about 10 days, with no signs of it going away. Sometimes I wake up with a throat so dry that I can barely breathe, but I feel so tired that I don't want to get out of bed to take medicines and liquids to feel better. I had several cups of liquid, and my throat was still dry! I had to get some sweets to suck on before I started to feel better.

Do you struggle to get out of bed when you are like this? For several days, I couldn't be bothered eating, but did anyway because food wasn't particularly appealing and I wasn't hungry, but I knew I would need to keep my strength up.

And exercise? I stopped personal training, but have walked every day because my dog whines non stop until I take him out and my family has been away, so I have been the only one to exercise him. Yesterday, I tried to do a bit more than I had done previously while sick and only got up to 5000 steps before I got the urge to throw up. It was horrible.

If you hv a sore throat for longer than a week I would go to the Dr. ASAP.
Maybe strep throat or u are sick and need antibiotics

Theres been a cold going around and people with it have been sick for a month or longer. My sisters whole family had/has it. She went to the doctor, and the doctor couldn't do anything for her. I don't know if theres any point in going. Plus my mother is a nurse, so she can examine me (shes away for a few more days).

Know your body and give yourself a good pep talk when you're ready.
I just had a cold, still have a wicked cough too. I layed around for 4 days and ate whatever and didn't keep up with drinking water. I had to pep talk myself back to getting on track. Up'd my hydration the first day, added forcing myself to eat healthy, and then went back to working out. To be honest, I threw up my first workout from coughing so much, but I sipped some water and finished anyway. And now I'm just back on track minus this cough, and working at my goals feeling better and better.
Hope you feel better! I didn't have a sore throat, just a post nasal drip, cough, stuffy nose, body aches, and fatigue. Sip warm tea with honey in the morning and stay hydrated! Good luck, you'll get back to good!
