I have about 5 a day. Are there any impediments to weight loss with it?

No.1 -
Not likely. Some people experience increased hunger which could be true or placebo due to reading somewhere that it increases hunger. Personally it does not affect my hunger. I don't drink it often, but if anything I find it actually helps me stay full when I happen to drink it. You might have to try and see for yourself if it affects your calorie intake.0

It doesn't inhibit weight loss, but any carbonated drinks drive down your blood pH due to CO2 dissolved as carbonic acid and your body has to maintain by buffering, which it does by leaching calcium from your bones. Not at an alarming rate, but five a day over years could become a problem.0

No they don't hinder weight loss. Drinking 5 carbonated beverages a day may cause bloating or digestive issues in some people, but it won't affect weight loss.0

Nah I drink a lot of diet drinks. Just curious do you like it better than coke zero? I prefer coke zero to all the diet ones.0

They are less than 5 cals each. Why do you think they would impede your weight loss?0 -

Probably all the goofball bloggers etc. who spout nonsense about it messing up your blood sugar, insulin, or making you store "belly fat," whatever the hell that means2 -

Calorie-wise, not really. The labels say no calorie, but they are a few calories each. However, it is unlikely that being a few calories off from diet soda would impede weight loss.
Now, where they can mess you up is if you are one of those people who tastes something sweet, and then need more and more sweet stuff to feel satisfied. It's easy to overeat in those situations, which could throw you off your goal, so drinking soda might not be the best idea. I think some people who report feeling this way eliminate soda consumption, or limit soda intake to be in conjunction with meals; it seems to help them keep from going overboard compared to drinking one in between meals (which can kick off poor snacking choices).0 -
Bariatric doctors recommend not using carbonated beverages on a regular basis because the gas stretches the stomach.
In this case it's not about calories (usually they're zero). Also sugar substitutes are not healthy for you. The only one allowed by bariatric doctors is Stevia. They do make a soda using stevia to sweeten it but again, we're back to carbonation issues.

She isn't a bariatric patient3

Rachel I have read a lot of your posts and the discussions you have started. I have been lurking, but I am going to chime in here and say that I hope you have contacted someone by now to get help with your binge eating disorder. All of this other stuff you are posting seems to be a smokescreen. You have an eating disorder that you need to get professional help with. Good luck, I wish you success.

Yes I have noticed this too. I am concerned for her health. I know it's hard as I am aostly recovered anorexic but it's the best thing you can do for yourself0 -
The only thing I find bad with drinking diet sodas is the bloating. Also, if I drink too close to bedtime I tend to go to the bathroom a lot during the night messing up my sleep. I try to drink more water and treat myself to diet soda a couple times per day.0

Sorry ...
There's actually no evidence that carbonation stretches the stomach.

As of yesterday, 82.8 lbs lost since late July, so the answer from me is a resounding, "No!". :-)1
