I'm trying to start making some breakfast smoothies for my husband and I to eat on busy mornings. What do you add besides spinach/kale and frozen fruits? I'd like them to have protein but be lower in sugar.

Nut butters, chia seeds, flax seeds, spinach is great, I actually add avocado to make it creamier. Usually my smoothies are a mix of whatever sweet stuff I have lying around

If it fits in your calories/macros and doesn't set off a binge/craving for something more.

My husband drinks simple whey protein shake on the way out to work.
He loves how it keeps him full for hours. Flaxmeal added. Very simple. Very fast.
We often eat greens at night.

I do a lot of smoothies! My "base" is always 1c greek yogurt, 1c almond milk. Then I will add in frozen fruit(whatever grams the package says is 1 serving) or 1 green apple and 3 LARGE handfuls of spinach or kale. If I need some fat, I add in 1T of chia seeds or 2T ground flaxseeds. (This usually totals between 300-360 calories) It makes about 28-32oz and keeps me full for hours!

    My very favourite:

2 cups from a mixed bag of frozen pineapple, mango, strawberries and peaches, a banana and 1 cup of pineapple juice. It's so sweet and delicious. I love starting my morning out with something yummy.

But that screams sugar overload which won't help metabolism speed up or burn any fat. Maybe adding water. When I use 3 fruits I always use water as a base. Well water or almond milk is always my base.

I can see almond milk being a good base and not having any problems with any fruits, but what about milk, if milk is used as a base would it curdle with any fruits?? I usually use juice as a base.
