Lost pant size scale same inches up

Weight loss is so bizarre.
I've lost an entire dress size almost 2. im starting to see vertical ab lines. The scale weight is the same so I decided to measure thinking surely I lost inches. To my surprise my waist and hips increased 2 inches but my gut is down by 3 inches.
Wonder if any smart people here can explain it?
