Being deployed at one point overseas losing weight and working out was a easy task. Now with me being out a while with a full time job and family its excruciatingly harder. I plan my meals out 4 days at a time and prep them and added the gym to the routine after work. Does anybody have any advice or motivating tips to keep me on a roll im am currently 13lbs down and slowly moving towards my goal as expected. Any advice is appreciated.

USAF veteran here. I think the biggest advantage we have is that we can access our self-discipline to help us with weight & fitness management. Sounds like you're doing the right things; best motivation tip I can suggest is to use what you learned in the military. Keep a sense of humor about it, but grind it output, whether it's eating & keeping track of your calories, or working out. Hang in there, you CAN do it!

You have to strike a balance between being organized and scheduled (meal planning and adding gym to your schedule are good starts) but also being flexible so that the rest of your life is not put on the back burner. I sit down with a calendar every two weeks and plan out when my workouts will be. My husband's work schedule is based on two weeks instead of one and we have a daughter who is in a couple of activities. I'll write in when I'm doing which workout but also look for anyplace there is wiggle room so that if I can't do my workout at the scheduled time I know when I can do it. That may mean shifting things by a day or moving something from morning to evening and vice versa. A little bit of planning goes a long way with health and fitness.

Good job so far. You're off to a good start.
