When you create a post asking for friends, saying, if you are looking for more pals please add...
Then you get replies saying "feel free to add me"

Really?, I already said add me! , why not send a request instead? :|

They may not know how to add people yet and are hoping you do. They may not feel comfortable initiating the friend request even with your permission. They may want others reading the thread to also add them. They may be lazy. They may be browsing from a mobile device and find posting easier than navigating for friend requests. They may have a reading issue or ESL and didn't fully understand your post. Etc.

They no currrr. You're the one asking for new friends.

Secondly, the app/website sort of sucks. You need to click through 3 screens to add a person. If MFP wanted you to easily add friends they would change the website to work better.

Guess lazy it's the answer, even being in a fitness site lmao!

I'm also in a ,mobile device, have to use browser to check community, and even that way I go back and forth to send requests when I want..

Do I need to go there first? Where is this other post? You're making your potential friends do so much work here.

Check out this discussion. One girl doesn't know how but the rest is nothing but post after post of "Feel free to add me." It isn't just you.

I think because a lot of people prefer to get a sense of someone's personality and get to know them before they add to friend list. Also some may think it comes off a bit desperate to ask or there are also fakes here who just have ulterior motives.

I'm not really sure how that would work since everything is so anonymous. You cannot see where, what time or anything. Workouts just show as "Blah-Blah ran for 54 mins at a Whatever pace" .... But who knows....

He's saying that most people don't post much on their walls so having "friends" isn't worth much here. True. I used to post a lot on my wall but now the site is slow, it sucks, and they hacked off all of the cool forum integration. Mine is mostly just what he described.

It's going to say 11.5 minute miles until it gets cooler. (For anything 10:00 pace to 11:30 pace)

But posting in the forums helps you get to know someone and their personality or sense of humor. Then you can message each other and move to other ways of communication...so yes friends can be made here regardless if people post on their profiles or whatever.

I have privacy circles set up on Strava but at the moment Garmin Connect doesn't offer that, So whenever I have an activity that leads anywhere near anywhere important I always set the privacy to me only

You have to click on user name, and it will take to his/her profile. The option to add is there ;)
