Hi, everyone

My name is China

I will be a college grad! It's a very big deal to me because I will be the first in my family to do so someone everyone is watching my every move and not so patiently waiting since I changed my major and basically had to start over. My parents and everyone else in my family have not been pleased with my weight over the years.

I never noticed it until one day I was a size 16, the same size as my mom and all of my pants were size 12's. From the age of 21 -23 I've gained over 30 pounds I'm sure and I have no clue how it happened. I feel like I literally that myself go and it's pretty depressing.

My goal is to weigh in and maintain 140 pounds before December 2016. I have 6 months to lose 50 pounds, and it may be much but even if I only lose 35 pounds in that time that will be great too! If any of you have any positive advice for me I would appreciate it.

Go, China! You can do it!!!

Put a bunch of motivational photos and affirmations on Pinterest. When you don't feel like eating right or working out, look at your motivation board! i KNOW you can do this!

The trick to losing weight is that you have to, have to, HAVE TO count ALL calories. Write everything down, even when you're not near myfitnesspal to log it in right away. Carry a cheap little spiral bound notebook. There is no way around counting calories! And, read food labels, very carefully.

Are you doing any cardio? You don't have to push hard, you just have to be consistent. Me, i give myself a gold star (or whatever color you like) on my calendar for each day i stick to my diet and do my workout. And if i do both perfectly, i get a star AND $3 into my personal stash savings account. If i do a semi-lame workout, or even cheat on the diet a little, no $3 for me! No paying bills out of that savings account, either! That's just for ME. If i know i really didn't make a decent effort and do 95% or more of what i intended, then no star, either. You'll know when you don't deserve it. But it's SO COOL to see a calendar full of stars at the end of the month!

Create rewards for yourself, but NOT day off rewards or food cheat rewards. However, that said, it IS okay and necessary to take a day off, or even two, per week, from the WORKOUT--not the diet! Your muscles need recovery time to develop best. Built-in time off is not cheating. And you want muscle, not fat! Also, it's okay to build in a small amount of some "naughty" food every now and then, so long as you're sure of the exact (and i mean EXACT) calorie count, and count it into your daily total. Be sure to use a good target weight calculator, so you're not eating too little and going into starvation mode. That will actually slow your weight loss. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! You too are WONDER WOMAN!

Congrats!!!! I hope you reach your goal. 140 lbs is under weight for your height. I'm about in the same boat as you. I'm 5'9". I've never weighed over 170 lb. I currently weigh 190lbs. Shocked when i got on the scale!!!!!! I would like to get back to 155-165 lbs. Fingers crossed for both of us.
