I am so excited today because when I got on the scale this morning, I've Iost a total of 29 pounds including the pounds I lost before joining MFP. I am only 10 pounds away from my ideal weight. It has been a struggle for me the last month because I suddenly lost my mom. I struggled to eat right and exercise during this time period. I was not motivated to log in my daily meals because I was eating to try to ease the pain. As time passed, I started exercising and attempting to get back on track with eating the right foods. I would only log what little exercise I managed to do.
With that said, my goal was to lose 10 more pounds before my birthday which is one week from today. I reached that goal, and now I am working to reach my final goal of 10 more pounds. Go me!!!

So sorry to hear about your mom! When I lost both my mom and dad, it was very hard to deal with emotionally. Food seemed to comfort, but taking care of myself the best I could was actually more comforting and healing in the long run. Grief is such a strong emotion to deal with: writing, talking, and being gentle with yourself are great alternatives to eating over it. It will be an up and down time for awhile, and that's normal. The worst of the pain passes with time. Hang in there and congratulations on making your goal! I know your mom would be proud of you and would want you to keep going and not let her death be the cause of you not getting to your goal weight. Do it in honor of her and you. You can do it!0

Sounds like things have been really hard for you lately - I am so sorry. It sounds like you have got your mind in a good place to achieve your goals, so go for it. Your Mom would be proud. Take care of yourself physically and spiritually, you will do well.0

Thanks for the encouraging words. I am determined to continue to reach my final goal. I was able to visit my mom the day she passed away. I dropped by to see her after work and I asked her if she had noticed I've lost weight. She looked at me and said oh yea I can tell you've lost weight. She said it with a smile on her face and that made me feel even better. A few hours later, she was gone. So that is one reason I have to finish.0
