Hello been reading a fair bit on here. I'm about 220-230 llbs. 5'10".I've lost about 30 llbs. I started doing mainly cardio but incorporate some weights into classes that are basically like circuit training (includes cardio etc) spin classes, insanity, boxercise.

I have seen that I could/should be doing more weights to build muscle does, is doing the weights in these classes sufficient to be classed as weight training (to tone up) or do 'proper' weight training.

I find I'm in the gym long enough, did 3 classes one night (insanity...killer & 2 boxercise classes approx 2 1/4 hrs worth)

I enjoy the classes more than other gym type work. I'm on approx 1550 Cals a day and often come in under due to regular exercise (5 times a week average) I would like to lose a minimum of another 14llbs to start. It does become bit of an obsession doesn't it

Any advice welcomed (pref from someone in the know)
Cheers

Those classes would be considered cardio. For strength training, you should follow a structured, professional program that incorporates progressive lifting.

If your gym teaches those classes, they most likely have a total body class too. See what they offer or see if they have a guided weight circuit, with numbered machines, that you can use, and keep track of your weights and reps.

I do cardio and weights on alternate days. But if you do cardio and weights on the same day, you might want the next day off, or to do yoga or walking that day.

Those classes would be considered cardio. I too find it hard to give up the fun cardio classes to make room for weight training in my schedule...
