Question About Steps

Hi all. My activity watch (not a Fitbit) has no problem uploading my workouts BUT I'm trying to figure out if I am suppose to be adding my 10K per day steps to my exercise dairy here on MFP & if so...how many cals does 10K steps burn because my watch does NOT upload those? I think I read somewhere around 10K steps = 400 cals burned? Any direction would be great thanks!!

Look in the menu for steps on MFP then sync your watch to it. That way your steps will automatically be recorded and exercise calories adjusted. On iPhone steps cane be found when I click on more. Hope this helps.0

If your watch syncs with MFP and you have them linked then you don't need to log your steps as both apps will talk to each other.
If they aren't able to be linked then you will have to add your steps/exercise manually on MFP.
10k is approx 400 cals, differs per person depending on age/weight/height.0 -
I have a garmin and I no longer allow my steps to be loaded into mfp (I forget to upload) so, now I just add the amount of time I spend walking and I only track my actual walks (I average over 20k steps per day in scheduled walks) Im a speedy walker but I didn't know that 10k steps roughly =400 calories interesting I guess I've been cheating myself.0

So my TomTom watch does sync my actual workouts but on rest days...I am taking anywhere from 12k-20k steps that does NOT upload! I started manually entering in this info...I was just wondering if others did the same or was 10k+ steps just expected or something. Ok thank you all who answered0

Unless you are walking 10,000 steps in addition to your normal daily movement, they aren't all exercise.0

Work walking may not be classified as exercise, but it definitely does count. On any giving day I can burn 1500-2000 calories just by doing my job. I am a walking security guard, the big factors are weight it takes some people more effort to move their body and age. If you google it there are places that can give you a rough estimate.1
