Losing faster than expected, should I correct course?

I'm aiming to lose 1lb a week but after 5 weeks I've lost 9lb, which is closer to 2lb a week. I would say "water weight" but for the past week or so I've been plugging daily weigh-ins into a trend app (Libra) and it calculates the trend to be 1.6lb per week.

I am pretty generous with food estimates and conservative with exercise times, so I think I'm probably just overestimating my net calories.

The question is, would you try and adjust the estimates at this stage, or let it run for a week or two in case there is a fluctuation over a longer cycle?

How do you feel? Does it feel sustainable at your current level of activity and calories? If so I'd try and Stick with it personally.

Yes, it's sustainable, and I'm 13st 11 (193lb) so I suppose I can afford to lose a little faster without doing myself an injury

Then I would Stick with it and keep logging so you can see if your weight loss starts slowing. Amazing results btw! :)

    Congratulations on the weight loss.
If you're feeling great on your plan, not hungry all the time then I'd stick with what you're doing. "If it aint broke don't fix it" At least on a day when you might want to eat more, you know you can and your weight loss should continue.

Early results tend to have some water weight included. How much have you lost week by week?

Averages work great for the long term, but 5 weeks really isn't the long term. You could easily have lost 3 pounds each of the first two weeks and a pound each of the next three weeks to lose 9 pounds... that would show an average of 1.6 pounds, but the more realistic number is the average of the last 3 weeks.... 1 pound a week. I would give it more time and consider the extra loss a bonus for now... you may have some bad weeks coming to make up for it as well.

The 9lb over 5 weeks is an average, but the 1.6lb per week is a trend based on the last week's weigh-ins. But I take your point - I think I'll just stick with it for now.

Even that trend app will not be accurate as most of the weight lost at first is water weight. Stick to it and see again in a month.
