The last 10lb....

After dieting for over a year and losing 50+ lbs I feel I've been spinning my wheels for last 2-3 months. I will have a few good days, then I will breakdown and eat silly amounts of food for a day or 2 and blow the progress I've made. I've repeated this cycle a fair few times now and am getting really frustrated. I'm male, 5' 10" currently 172lbs and my goal is 161lbs. I know if I maintain a deficit I will slowly reach goal, but feel I'm fighting my hunger all the time and it's just a matter of time before I succumb. I have my weekly target set to 0.5lb/week and most days eat circa 1900 cals per day which I don't think is over-aggressive. I try to eat 170 grams of protein each day for satiety/preserving LBM and 20-30g of fibre for satiety, however on a regular basis by early evening I get really hungry. Exercise-wise I do weights 3-4 times per week and do a fair amount of walking (average 15,000 steps). I try not to eat back exercise cals if I can help it. Do you think my body has reached it's "set-point" and is fighting against me to preserve fat reserves? I estimate my BF% is around 15%. Any advice from anyone who had similar experiences gratefully received!

Unfortunately the last 10lbs are a "kitten" for everyone. I lost 50lbs in 2011-2012 and have kept it off within 10lbs. So basically I lose the last 10 and gain it back a lot. But in my world, it's better than losing 50 again!

When it's down the wire you HAVE to almost be perfect everyday. You will lose the weight (your body doesn't just stop where it wants).

My advice - if you aren't weighing your food start. It's eye opening when you start doing that.

Everything else is just a waiting game. It may take you as long to lose the last 10, as it did to lose the first 40. Them's are the breaks. Hang in there, be patient and keep up the good work.
