I have pretty severe, difficult to manage hypertension. I am currently on 3 medications just to keep my BP around 140/80, which is still pretty high. About 6 weeks ago, my doctor suggested I try a plant-based diet, in addition to my meds, to see if it will help. I go back in 6 weeks to see if it has helped. I can tell you that I feel better, sleep better, and have WAY more energy. I don't have the headaches or dizzy spells I did prior to changing my diet and the last time I used my at home BP monitor, it was 132/70...which is fantastic for me.

You are welcome to friend me. My diary is open for viewing, but since I am technically vegan now, you may not be impressed with my diet...lol

Mine is on the higher end. What I found that helps is drinking passion tea + HBP support tea. My BP was around 160/110 and drinking the tea daily has reduced it down to 143/94ish. I just make a big pitcher and keep it iced and drink one or two 16oz glasses a day.

Also reducing pre-packaged foods helps so I'm starting to meal prep my own food so I know how much salt is in it.

Tip: Make all your foods at home. Avoid highly processed and boxed foods as much as possible. Forget fast food for a while.

I had crazy high BP 6 months ago, insanely high. Like 200 over 120, not even kidding. Was on amlodipine, lisinopril, and atenolol. Frankly the medicine seemed like it was poisoning me, luckily I got off it completely by losing 35 pounds, giving up beer, walking an hour every day, and monitoring my BP closely to see what affected it. I found that I didn't have to go crazy low on sodium, just 2500-2800 or so. Cutting back on fat and eating more vegetables helped too.

So it's doable, and without a fancy diet. I exhort you in your efforts, original poster. But I prefer to keep my diary private. Nothing magical in there anyway. I eat boiled eggs for breakfast and a lot of grilled chicken and mixed nuts.

I was diagnosed with very high BP a few months ago. It was weird because all my life it was VERY low! I It would run about 150/100. The Dr. wanted to try diet & meds, so I'm not sure which has really lowered it but anyhow, feel free to friend me so you can view my daily eats. I try to stick to salads a lot. I created my own mix of a salad dressing. I mix 1 tbs of maries yogurt ranch and add 1 tbsp of plain yogurt. Next week I am going on vacation and will be eating whatever I want so ignore next Monday-Friday!
