besides looking better, just to feel more confident about my body in general. Oh, and to not get rejected so often when I go on a first date. LOL6

Reason to lose weight
walk up the porch steps (3) without being winded
I want to hike the Appalachian Trail7 -
I gained weight pretty quickly in the past and as a result, could really feel the weight slowing me down. It was a strange feeling to me.
I started losing weight partly because of that feeling. I began lifting at the same time. Now I'm back down to my normal weight and it feels like I can move freely. It's hard to explain I guess! It's like my legs don't weigh me down anymore and my arms don't chaff from simply moving them when walking.3 -
@sfgirl38 awww, about first dates, don't bother losing weight for losers. A real man would date you for you and not your dress size.
I lost weight for health reasons and for vanity. I liked the heavier me I just love the new me now , plus I already had a great wardrobe waiting to be worn.
I wanted to feel sexy again and it's boosted my confidence, which I think in turn makes me feel more sexy.
Anyway old man isn't complaining and I have the extra bonus of having more energy, zero bp issues and able to be more active. Win win6 -
Aww these are great! So girl your stunning so the first dates must be blind! Rosierosie I hear you on the chafing my thighs do that0

Be healthier / feel more confident in my own skin
Make the 90% of my closet fit again (including my 'dressy' work clothes that I'm going to be needing soon) and get rid of my "bigger" clothes FOR GOOD!
Run 5K's and improve times as I go2 -

Because caging it is cruel and unusual
Weight should be free to run the fields and live its life, man17 -
I'm 6 weeks postpartum and I'm anxious to loose all this weight I gained during my 3rd pregnancy in 3 years. Since my first baby was born I haven't given my body the time to fully recover before getting pregnant again. When baby #1 was 3 months I was pregnant again. Once baby #2 was 6 months I got pregnant once again. Baby #3 is now 6 weeks and it's time to loose the weight (about 20lbs) and be the active person I was before I was pregnant. At least that's what I'm hoping for. Not sure when I'll find the time or energy, but I must.5

I want to lose weight so I'll breathe easier and live longer for my husband and son.3

I am doing it for myself.

Direct from my profile is the best way I could put it then (three years ago), and still now: "Because humans were not meant to be squishy piles of suck, and I am sick of being a member of the heaving, waddling, jiggling masses."7

Health reasons (was pre-diabetic), see my daughter grow up (and be active with her), see my grand kids grow up also.2

Health reasons. Specifically, I was surprised by tumor that grew remarkably quickly (I think the term "explosive growth" was used once or twice). By being pretty healthy when that happened, I was able to endure the fight better.
So I try to keep my weight in check in order to improve my odds in case life has any other surprises in store for me.2 -
Because it's too tight!
or because even though I'm overweight, and my doctor says I'm perfectly healthy I know that won't last being overweight, whether it be from joints giving out or something worse. That is one of my pet peeves from my fellow overweight people who think that because their blood work, and cholesterol are good that the extra weight isn't going to eventually affect them.

I used to think I'm doing this for my family, but I realize I have to be at my best for me, so I can be my best for my family. So my reason for wanting to loose weight is to be healthy for "ME" because I'm worth it.3

My joints. They hurt if I weigh more than 12 stone, and having pronated feet means my knees and hips suffer from walking anyway - the extra weight is just piling on the stress, and yet I love walking and want to be doing it into my old age. I've injured my knee and the frustration of having limited mobility while it recovers just makes me more determined to lose this weight and make the most of every step.
Plus I have nice clothes that don't fit me and I want to wear them again.2 -
Health, comfort/quality of life, better sleep, clothes fitting better/easier to buy clothes.3

Our foraging ancestors weren't fat, and we're not meant to be fat either. When we are, problems occur. Avoiding those problems (or reducing their effects) is a good idea, so it would behoove us to be healthy and fit.5

My 2 yo daughter was 'at risk of becoming overweight'. I was mortified. I realized that at 30 kilos overweight and living a quite sedentary life that I wasn't being the role model that I should be for my daughter.3

I noticed my feet were starting to hurt after being at work all day. And I'm going on vacation to Southern California in a month. ~ In 6 months I've lost 70 pounds, feet no longer hurt and I'm down 4 pant sizes.3

Increase my fertility to well anything above the 5% I'm currently at, and have a successful pregnancy. Also, to be fit enough to work long hours as a nurse with minimal pain.2
-
1. To be a good example for my daughters (18 & 22)
2. To stay in shape to keep up with my young husband (10y younger!)
3. Because I am vain and want to look hot.5 -
I love me enough to want what's best for me.2

Because I was horrified to find myself in the Obese II category on the BMI chart, and I know I had gotten lazy in my food choices.2
-
To become healthier and more active for not only myself but my husband and niece.2
-
Reasons to lose weight:
To look good and feel comfortable in clothes.
Not to feel embarrassed and run and hide when my husband sees me naked.
So other people wouldn't look at me and think "fat and lazy".2
