What is a locked topic?

I'm new here. Tried to post to Insanity? thread. Input my reply only to have it come back as "this topic is locked" or something similar. I don't hang out on message boards but I'd appreciate you're feedback.

    It generally either means people broke the forum rules and Mike locked the topic or it has exceeded 500posts and is automatically locked and a 'Part 2' is created. :flowerforyou:
