Crazy questions about calories....

I have a weird questions that I've been wondering about for while but haven't found an answer. It's just out of curiosity, I have no desire to binge eat or start unhealthy practices....

Is there a limit to how many calories your body can absorb at one time? Or will your body take so much and then pass the rest? For example, say you ate 15,000 calories more than I needed per day in a short time (like one meal or within a few hours). Will you gain a little over 4 pounds from this or will your body take some of the calories/nutritional value and just discard the rest? I hope this makes sense.

There is no limit to how many calories the body can absorb at one time. Remember we have long intestines that absorb all the nutrients. But it does take days for it to be converted to fat

My understanding is there is no limit, the only restriction is fitting it in your stomach.

If it goes in and comes out the other end, you body has processed it and used the calories for activity or stored it as fat.

    ^ Agreed.

Plus the amount your body stores as fat or not depends on your current metabolic rate at the time of a binge or overeating.

For example, if you maintain your weight on 2000 calories. Then you binge on an additional 10,500 calories on top of the maintenance you will gain roughly 3lbs. of fat. As each 3500 cals eaten in addition to the maintenance intake leads to about a pound of fat.

The thing is, this is not an exact science as there are so many variables within each person. Just a good rule of thumb or generally accepted ideal.
