Hi, the weather here is terrible today so I can't do my walk. I don't have a treadmill and the gym is not an option today. Is walking in place going to do anything for me or am I just wasting my time?
Any advice please x

I think a lot of people do those Leslie Sansone videos and have good results. No, it's not a waste of time. You could also dance around. Any movement is better than sitting on the couch.4

I bought a 'step' thing, where you do aerobic step exercises. that can be an alternative to walking when you cant get out. it costs around $40.00 at target.com0

Is there a mall close by that you could go to? A few laps could get your daily miles in......just leave the credit cards at home.2

No, you wont be wasting your time, I do a LOT of walking/running in place as we get so much heavy rain.
Check out youtube, as already mentioned Lesley Sansone and also Jessica Smith do walking related workouts and they are fun.3 -
When I can't take my dogs outside we have doggy dance parties. Basically I put on my old ugly fake Uggs and turn up the music and dance around while they chase and bite at my feet.0

YouTube has tons of "walking" videos. These come on DVD too. Check your local library, Amazon & Target.

If there is no mall, a large home improvement store will give you lots of space to work with.2 -
If you've got stairs ... climb them over and over and over. Although I don't have indoor stairs, I live in a house on quite a slope with sets of stairs here, there and everywhere, so I have jogged up and down and up and down one flight then jogged to the next flight and up and down that one, and then did lunges to another set, etc. etc. around the yard. Even on drizzly days.
My mother used to skip rope on bad weather days in some of the places we lived. I'm not sure how she did it ... we must have had high ceilings in part of the house.0 -
Any movement is helpful.
Do you have stairs to 2nd floor or basement?
I got a small trampoline and I jump/walk on it while watching TV.
Squats are always awesome!
So are pushups.1
