Strong lifts - no two days in a row?

I can't get to the gym on a Monday, Tuesday or Friday - I want to start strong lifts but can't manage 3 days without doing 2 in a row - how important is this?

You can have 2 strong lifts 2 days in row, it's going to be dependent on your body part split, diet/supplementation, and ability to recover.0

I didn't think there was a body part split?1

It probably won't cause any long-term harm. Just make sure you're being really careful, and be aware it might cause some fairly intense fatigue and soreness.1

Every other day workouts are built into Strong Lifts and Starting Strength (and other such novice programs) to allow time to recover fully for the next workout. If your body has not fully recovered before the next workout, you workout will be inadequate and your training performance will suffer. Better to do 2 days a week (w/2-3 days off in between) than try to do 3 days a week w/2 days in a row, assuming that you are doing max work sets.
Squats are done every workout in SL and SS; other body parts are split. If you are REALLY doing max work sets and you want to do the program as prescribed, you cannot recover sufficiently to do squats day after day. If you are doing sub-max work sets, then it shouldn't matter but then you aren't really pushing yourself to get stronger.
Let your conscience be your guide.4 -
I would do the 2x/week then, Sun/Wed or Sat/Wed, just make every set/rep count!1

There's an A and a B workout, but both contain squats. Nothing wrong with squatting every day but take care not to ove do it.0

I've found that the next day I'm sore all over. I couldn't imagine doing it the next day too. But that's me, you may do just fine. Good Luck!0

I often end up doing SL 2 days in a row due to available time for gym. Just take care not to lose concentration and risk injury. Particularly at the beginning when weights are lighter you'll be fine. Once the weight is heavier you may find 2 days squats too much but you could do BW squats on day 2 and still do the other 2 exercises. I have even been known to do A and B back to back on the same day because I only got chance to do lifting 2 days that week. I also don't rest on in between days - I do ballet, circuits, spinning and running - I work out every day.
Depends on your goals though - I'm not desperate to lift the heaviest weights so if my progress is a bit slower I don't mind. If you want to progress super quickly then you will need the rear and recovery built into the program.0 -
No. I wouldn't do that. I'd rather pick a 4 day upper/lower program so I could go two days in a row...even if it means more training days.
Can you do Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday?0 -
i woud not do two days in a row. I'd find another program, or i'd do SL 2x a week and on that other day i'd just do some yoga or some active recovery.1

Cool thanks everyone0

If this is every week? I'd say no.
If you just mean this week? Most likely fine.0 -
I do strong lifts twice a week, either m/w or m/th. I do all five lifts each time, plus added accessories. It suits my needs better and the body has more recovery time. Two days in a row full-body is not usually recommended.1

What days can you do SL5x5? Can you do it two days with rest day between?
Maybe do Sat and Mon and add accessory work (or superset) Wed/Thurs.
ETA: SL Thurs/Sat and accessories Mon0 -
Thanks everyone, I will aim for twice a week and see how I get on. I'm rarely sore after exercise but I lift as much as I feel capable of, should I be pushing past that??0

If u are doing stronglifts, the idea is to increase by 5 lbs each week0

You are definitely not doing Stronglifts. You are doing another workout that you just made up. Stronglifts was designed the way it was for a reason. If you change it...it is something else.0
