So are you supposed to eat more than your cal limit if you work out?

My calorie goal is 1200. If I burn 200 calories at the gym, do I eat 1400 calories for the day?

Also, what if I only do strength training? Does my daily cal intake stay the same?

Yes. If you don't have much to lose you should set your goal a little higher though.

I have been doing this for 2 years and have no once added calories for strength training. I think some people do but I find that it does not burn many calories and fits into the 'lightly active' lifestyle I have chosen on the app.

If you are in a large calorie deficit as it is being at 1200 calories, then I would recommend eating back your exercise calories.

You will still burn calories doing strength training, but it wouldn't be as much as say cardio for example.

Nope - your calorie goal is 1200 + exercise cals.
Only on a non-exercise day is it just 1200.

You log it under the cardiovascular section of the exercise diary, search for strength training and log the duration. It's a surprisingly small number. A very rough estimate for something that can't be accurately measured.

BTW - did you pick 2lbs a week as your weight loss goal? You might find the process easier to adhere to with a less aggressive target if that's the case.

Most on here will eat back at least a portion of exercise calories. How much of them you should consume is based on how accurate you think your estimates are for burned calories, and what your exercise goal was/is ( ie to increase deficit, or to get into better physical condition ... ).
