I am really bad with sugar and have been good recently but today I had a binge and drank a full bottle of coke and loads of biscuits and I slept for hours and now have no energy feel a bit low I was worried I was ill but do you think the sugar made me like this?

You will get varying responses about this, but personally when I have a well balanced diet the effects show up in all aspects of my life. If I stick to a diet of mainly fruits, vegetables, meat, and dairy with the right macro balance for my body and a treat thrown in every day I eat less and have more energy than if I decide to indulge in too many calorie dense, sugary foods within a day, especially if it's all at one time.

It's probably just the effects of overeating in general, versus the effect of any specific thing you overate. Not too uncommon to feel lethargic after eating a lot.

Too much sugar can cause blood sugar imbalances if you are sensitive to such things. It's possible that you had a sugar high (lots of energy because of increased blood sugar) followed by a crash (low blood sugar because the insulin was very effective at doing its job, removing sugar from the blood stream). Combine that with very little protein and few micronutrients for the day, and it's very possible the cause of your feeling ill.

Within a well-balance diet, some sugar is okay - fruits and vegetables have sugar after all! And even a glass or two of Coke and a few cookies/biscuits won't be problematic if they are within the context of a diet containing sufficient protein, fats, and vitamins and minerals (from natural sources rather than supplements, as much as possible) will be okay for most people. But if you continue to have symptoms like this, it might be worth it to talk with your primary care doctor to see if you have reactive hypoglycemia or other sugar/insulin sensitivities.

I agree with all of the above. Add to that, part of it could be emotional as well. When I give into binging, I have feelings of guilt, which also makes me feel bad/tired.
Overeating in general makes me sleepy, too, and when I wake up, I just feel..bleh..

Yes, it can. If you're responding like that to an overload of sugar you're on your way to eating yourself sick. Rein in the junk food and eat a sensible diet.

Perhaps google reactive hypoglycemia. I have this and it sounds like your experience.

I have some insulin resistance so if I have carbs my blood glucose will climb higher than average bcause I need more insulin to remove glucose from my blood. That extra glucose eventually removes TOO MUCH glucose and I would get hypoglycemic. I would get the shakes, cold sweats, feel jittery and have a hard time focusing... and really want a nap. If I ate sugars again it was fixed... until it started again a couple of hours later.

I now eat a very LCHF diet so my body is not reliant on glucose for fuel. Because of this, I no longer get hypoglycemic symptoms even if my BG levels are low.

It's probably not in your head. It probably was caused by your food.

Anything in excess will make you sick/lethargic. Moderation is key. Unless you drank a liter of coke, I'd suspect its the loads of biscuits that are weighing you down.
