Has sweat killed my Fitbit?

Sorry - a bit grim.

I accidently clipped my Fitbit Zip inside my sports bra, rather than on the outside before my 15K run today. Got back to find the holder was full of sweat (like brimming - ewww) and my Fitbit is dead :(

I've put it in a box with a silica sachet to try and dry it out, but not sure whether the sweat inside will have killed the contacts. Has anyone had this before, is it likely to recover or should I just call it quits and buy a new one?

Time will tell. I wore my Zip into the pool and didn't realize it for 45 minutes. I was so happy to see his mocking little face! They are supposed to be water resistant, so give it some time. If not, call FitBit, I hear their customer support is amazing. Maybe you can get a new one at no cost.

Take it apart as much as you can. I believe the Zip has a battery you have to replace, so removing it & leaving it in open would be what I'd do. Let it sit for at least a day to dry out before trying to use it again.

I washed my old Zip in washing machine (forgot to take it off my sports bra)...3 days in a bag of rice with battery out & it was fine.

Same thing happened to me. It can kill it. Put it in a big bag of rice for 2-3 days. I may help. I couldn't save mine though so the Fitbit people sent me a whole new one for free.

I wore mine swimming in the ocean by mistake for about 20 mins and it didn't die. However one "problem" with the zip is that the battery indicator isn't always reliable. I noticed on the dashboard I still had about 50%, so figured it would still be okay if I went on vacation for 2 weeks... and it died in that time. :( So maybe first make sure it's all dried out and replace the battery? Otherwise do contact customer service. They have been great for me.
