Yeah the beer. I don't believe it's the alcohol. I believe it's the social idea that if thats what I like why not have what you like. I've always drunk Guinness. But now I'm trying to drop weight everyone at my local pub is quizzing me on why I'm not drinking it. It's hard being judged on not being the same as always.

I don't always drink beer but when I do I prefer Guinness. Seriously, as long as you only have 1 or 2 day during dieting you should be fine, they only have 125cals/14.9oz, plus you get bioflavonoids and probiotics..it's the yogurt of beer!

I've tried my very best to only have one or two. I've actually had the calories left over to have one or two every few days. But when it comes to the weekend and most people have no worries about drinking I get quizzed about limiting myself . I know it's silly and I should have confidence but I've been the same for so long it's hard to broach t he subject.

I'm with Dresden - if you don't feel you drink in an uncontrolled manner, then a Guinness is a pretty good choice alcohol-wise. Not too high in alcohol or calories.

Can you just make it a treat drink - like a couple days a week?

It was a year for me when I was first starting my weight loss. Now though I'm struggling to not revert to my old attitude about it.

I quit drinking alcohol myself. Not because of weight loss, though. I quit because of the cost/benefit ratio.

If people quiz you that's their problem (maybe they have a drinking problem, too.) Regardless, I find if I simply say, "No, thanks," most people will drop it - if they persist I have a wide array of comebacks. Ain't nobody gonna make me feel bad about what I do or don't put in my body. ::shrug::

Why would people ask you about limiting it to one or two drinks? That's asinine.

Ahhhh, ye ole good Guinness. Best drink on the Island.
I have to deal somehow with social drinking too. And I hate that I must refrain from going out and seeing friends and other people just because I want to avoid drinking alcohol. :(
