Has anyone had any success on walking the 10,000 steps a day to lose weight?

Eating at a caloric deficit is the way you lose weight.

I tried for a while but I kept losing count at about 999 and had to restart the count. It's just too frustrating.

i figure 10,000 steps is about 5 miles. if you walk 5 miles a day and watch your calories, you will lose weight. so yes, it works.

I think I did 19000 one day and I got something like a 600 calorie deficit. Now if you subtract that from your TDEE, and let's assume you're eating at maintenance, you'd see a weight loss of about 1 pound a week or less. So it's a slow way to lose weight.

But let's face it, most people who are new to this aren't eating at maintenance. As Adini said, a controlled calorific deficit is the best way.

I have a fitbit, I do between 10,000 and 15,000 steps a day, except on rest day than I only do less than 5,000 steps. Majority of my weight loss has been walking. (see below)

the answer is a possible yes - permitting you eat a calorie deficit and dont go stir crazy with foods.
    Its a simple equation really.

When I lost 50 pounds after my first baby that was the way I started by counting steps. Eventually I did add in more intense cardio but walking is a great lower impact way to get yourself moving and 10000 steps is a good thing to aim for. I kinda got addicted to counting steps and trying to beat my goal and eventually had myself up to like 20,000 a day :P
