I really want to cut down on sugar and carbs does anyone customize these goals on here? if so what would you recommend changing this too,

    You can customise the goals on here of course. I can't comment on what you could edit yours to though, its a personal choice.
    At the end of the day the macros are not the issue, its the how much we consume that is the issue and is what counts when trying to lose.

    Yes, it can be adjusted, but only by percentage, unless you are a premium member. What you set it to is up to you. My macro profile is set to 10/60/30, c/f/p.

    yes, I customize my macros. The 20p/50c/30f macro suggestions stink, since MFP way undershoots protein intake. For sure, calories are the most important aspect of weight loss, but optimizing macros can certainly help with retaining muscle as you diet down and staying fuller longer.

    I do the following...
    protein: ~0.8-1.2 g/lb of body weight (unless you're quite overweight, then less)
    fat: 20-25% of calories
    carbs: the rest of your calories

    What works for me is 50% protein 30% fat 20% carbs (spread out before and after weight training)
