Back spasms & leg cramps after workout

So I started doing these squats videos on YouTube and i followed through the warm ups and post workout exercising , I had water but I was advised to take some sort of protein or tuna, chicken etc. I didn't take in protein just became lazy and relaxed to watch a movie. The next morning in the shower I got this excruciating pain on my back and legs. I was very scared. I took a break I'm back at it ...but I'm still sore on that one side. Any suggestions?!! Please anything I would kindly appreciate.

    Well next day the muscle will be sort and it takes time to heal you can stretch and walk to keep it loose. You should workout the same muscle every 72 hours you can have a routing or change depends on what you want. Take your protein and drink lots of water so you don't get cramp and hydrate yourself.

    Hi, does your pain run down the one side from your back/buttock down your leg to your foot?

    No it's only lower back that day, and now only right buttock. I workout everyday! Do at least 30-60 mins ..I walk and use my legs a lot so I'm surprised I got that excruciating pain. It was horrible the 1st day , took my breath away, 2d
    Nd day was tolerable and today just during the workout I felt the soreness. I don't want to stop , but if Id hate to think I can hurt myself, that's why I ask. Thanks kindly for the feedback. I will def start to replenish with protein after the workout, thanks again.

    Oh and every 72 hrs hmm.. I'll take that into consideration, but I really love the workout, makes me feel like I'm doing something and burning tons!!! Agh! Thanks again

    I had (and still do at times) have leg and foot cramps after a workout. I try to drink as much water as possible to prevent this, but it didn't always help. What helped the most is getting into the hot tub for about 20 minutes after a hard workout.

    Thanks Annamarie I will def keep that in mind next time. I feel much better but there's potential soreness I can feel from afar...def have followed instructions posted like working the area every 72 hours, staying hydrated, and consuming some sort of protein, now the hot baths will be added to the list. Thanks again to everyone for the feedback.

    Cramping for me is usually some kind of electrolyte imbalance...might need some sodium, magnesium, or potassium. I have a list of potassium rich foods on my fridge (potatoes, bananas, squash, avocados are favorites), Epsom salts or Natural Calm for magnesium, and sodium is easy to come by.

    You may be working out too much. you body needs time to repair after a workout so either take a day to work on other muscle groups or a day off. Also make sure you stretch after your work out and as stated above potassium helps

    Thank you ghostlight1 I only do a 25 min cardio everyday..I started a new Work Out during the time of the episode, hasmt happened anymore , so I'm feeling I took in all your advice ...thanks so much
