Trying to live a healthy life style and get into weight lifting

Hey guys, 18 year old college student here trying to start dieting and live a healthier life. I am new to weight lifting and all so I really don't have an idea on what to do. I am trying to lose weight and build more muscle. I've always had a little bit of a tummy and I'm honestly ready to get rid of it. So any tips or suggestions would be helpful. Feel free to add me, I'm new to MFP and would like to make friends to motivate each other! :)
