Changing tastes

I've been actively trying to lose weight in a healthy way since Jan. 1, 2016. I may be losing a little too fast but this is just a consequence of eating healthy and changing my tastes. I've lost from 208 to 174 in 7 months. I'm 5'10", 72 yrs.
Some things that I've discovered- contrary to life long learning:
* Bread is not a favorite food and a sub roll or 2 slices is too much on a sandwich, take off 1/2.
* I don't have to eat a whole baked potato when 1/2 fills me up.
* Same with apple- 1/2 satisfies me and I'll have the other half later.
* Veggies (fresh or frozen) steamed or quick boiled with a hint of salt and fresh herbs are perfect. The grease and sauces ruin them.
* Berries, fresh or frozen, are best as is, no sugar or toppings.
* Coffee is great without cream and sugar. Don't know why I've used cream all these years.
* Cereal, whole grain, is best eaten dry. I've always thought you had to add milk! Blueberries on the side gives you valuable nutrients.
* At restaurants I ask for a box in the beginning. Otherwise I eat mindlessly til it's gone. Love leftovers!
*
I'm still learning and changing!

Sounds like you are losing about 1 lb per week. That doesn't seem like too much. Congrats.

Excellent work! My tastes have changed dramatically as I've changed eating habits.

Fruit and vegetables taste much better plain to me now. And I too ate certain quantities out of habit. Once you cut down you realize you didn't need that much after all.

Great attitude and thanks for sharing!
