This is a request for my 17 year old friend.
Basically, he is 17 and he is trying to lose fat. Should he have protein shakes, such as MyProtein Impact Whey Protein
Would protein shakes help him lose weight?
Would it affect him in the future?
Or should he have it once his body is fully grown to an adult

These are questions that "his" pediatrician should answer, not random strangers on the Internet.4 -
Protein shakes will not make you lose fat. They are meant to ensure that you get adequate protein if you are unable via food sources (or if you just enjoy them).
So he will be sadly disheartened after awhile to see that it does nothing if a calorie deficit is not present.1 -
Protein shakes don't make you lose weight. It's all about calories and getting proper nutrition. Maybe replace a high calorie meal with a shake. But it's not about one shake it's about an overall calorie intake.0

These are questions that "his" pediatrician should answer, not random strangers on the Internet.
Elphie He might not be American, in which case he may not have a Paediatrician. Brits for instance generally don't have a paediatrician, unless they've had or have a serious/recurring medical condition. We have GPs who would generally be a complete waste of time for this sort of thing.
Hussein, tell your mate that eating proper food is better than protein shakes if he is trying to lose weight. Making his portions smaller and reducing his carbs, upping his green veg intake will help alot.
Exercising will also help, but he needs to be careful what he does as he's still growing, a sports club would be ideal as they would encourage him but make sure he's safe and not let him do anything damaging. Most clubs cater for complete beginners so pick something he wants to try and go for it.
