Workout Smoothies?

Hi there. So I'm new to the whole fitness "scene" and I hear a lot about workout or protein smoothies or shakes. I was wondering what do these do? What does protein do to your body? Do you get energy? I have no idea. Thanks and feel free to add me is you want.

    Protein is just one of the three macro-nutrients (fat and carbohydrates are the others). Your body uses it in several ways, including building/retaining muscle. Some people also find that having more protein makes them feel fuller for longer. A protein smoothie is one option to get your protein if you find that you're not getting as much as you want from the rest of your diet. They're totally optional. I like the convenience of having protein powder in a smoothie, other people find they prefer to get their protein in other ways.
