Snack post work pre workout?

I'm hungry by the time I'm off work so I eat a little snack before my run but then I get cramps. I don't want to delay running, dog needs his exercise. Are certain foods better than others?

Timing and type of food can make a difference.
For me, eating dairy too close to a run can cause some stomach upset. I'm best off with a protein bar or some nut butter on toast a half hour or more before I run.
Can you bring something with you to work that you could eat at the end of the day or on your way home? Then you could experiment with timing and see if that's your issue. If you still get cramps, then time to try different types of food and see how things go.
