45-55 Year olds (male or female) who seriously lift

Or within a reasonable ball park of that age group. I will turn 50 in less than 4 months and I'm probably stronger now than was when I was in my 20's.

I'm reaching out to those who are around this age category to get a sense of what your regiment looks like. What do you do for recovery? How often do you do cardio? Do you do full body workouts or do you assign certain days to target specific muscles. I'd love to hear from my peers.

    46 years old here.
    I follow Wendler's 531 program for lifting.
Cardio (I shudder when I write that out) is a hit or miss thing for me.

And I know I'm stronger now than when I was in my middle 20's.

I'm 56 - started getting back in shape four years ago. Stronger than my 20's as my main sport then was motorcycle racing and needed to be light not strong.
Probably as strong as my strength peak in my 30's if you go by bodyweight multiples.....
But that's cheating a bit as I'm a lot lighter now.

Training - alternating days weights (upper body, majority compound lifts but also lots of core work) and cycling (or cycling related cardio).

Recovery - my legs are recovering when I'm working upper body and vice versa.

Fitter than ever and setting new cycling PB's, I do long distance events (longest so far = 129 miles).

Very interesting guys. Thanks for the feedback. I only wish that I took fitness this serious when I was younger and maybe it wouldn't be such an uphill climb. Better late than never I guess.

sijomial- I'm actually a bit heavier now but I do have more muscle weight. Metabolism is not as friendly as it was when I was in 20's either. 56? Man, you look great. A true role model you are.

Piperdown- I hear ya. I hate cardio but I know it's gotta be done. All the abdominal workouts in the world are not going to reduce my waistline. Of course, I need to learn to be just as disciplined an eater on the weekends as I am during the weekday.
