Where do I put the scales?

So I made an interesting discovery this morning.
If I put the scale in front of the bathroom sink and step on, I weigh 77.6KG
By the bath- 75.0
By the door - 73.7

I've been using the by the bath position for the last few weeks, so I decided to stick with that to keep my weight within a sensible range, and not have a 2kg overnight loss (as nice as that would be!)

So - what to do??!! And how am I ever going to trust my weight again.....

Be consistent in where you place it and it will still show you the change in your weight over time even if it is not exactly right.
You could get a weight. Put it on the scale in different places. Find the spot that most closely matches the weight.

I've had the same issue with analog scales and some digital and it didn't have to be moved to see a different weight. I'd get a weight, step off then back on, and it would be 2-3 lbs different. I finally broke down and bought a high-end digital scale and the problem hasn't happened since.

The surface under the scale can affect the reading. Carpet or any material that can compress will affect the reading. Also, if the surface is tile a loose tile under one of the scale's feet can throw it off. Most digital scales use 2 or 4 pressure sensors at the feet.
