Calves Got Bigger With Weight Gain-Can They Get Smaller?

Options
I haven't seen a post answering this questions exactly so I'm starting a new thread. My legs have always been slender and my calves have fit into every boot I've ever wanted. In the past two years I gained 60+ lbs and my calves and feet both got bigger to accommodate the weight. A good portion of it was muscle and I'm sure some was fat, but my question is can I reverse this effect with my exercise/weight loss routine since this was something that developed with the weight in the first place? Or am I doomed to never fit into my favorite boots again because the extra muscle won't go away? Most of the posts I've read have been about calves that were always big. Since mine only grew out of the boots with the weight gain, I decided more info was needed. Thanks!

If it got bigger with weight gain it should get smaller with weight loss.
