Macro nutrients confusion - please help

Hi, I have been a serial dieter and have yo yo'd for years but have finally decided to get things sorted and just try to eat a healthy 'normal' diet. I exercise 6 days a week, a mixture of boot camp on the beach, insanity & tabata. My current weight is 142 (heavier than usual) and I would like to get down to 119 (height 168cm) (female aged 38). I know that food is about 80% of weight loss but I'm so confused about low carb/high fat/high protein etc. I can eat low carb, doesn't particularly bother me but confused about eating high protein. I need this if I'm exercising a lot but then doesn't that just turn to insulin anyway - so may as well eat carbs? I thought about doing 40/40/20, have done this before but I only lose approx half a pound a week on that. Don't get me wrong, this isn't all about weight, I know I'm not obese but I want a healthy lean body & fitness is key. I take part in Total Warrier & other such events each year. So confused. Can anyone help?

It's not that complicated. Get your calories right, and eat in a way that satisfies you mentally and physically.

The bottom line is calories in vs. calories out, plain and simple, if you want to get more complex with macro/micro nutrient manipulation that's up to you but keeping it simple will always be effective.
