Daily Weigh

Hey. It's been suggested due to my weight fluctuating all the time that I should try weighing daily. I'm going to give it a go but for those whose do it how do you track your actual loss. Do you still class one day a week as the weigh in day or is that something that you just don't do with this method. If someone says how much have you lost what do you say if you're going by varying weights each day. One day I could say ooh 4lbs so far but that might go up for a day or so so if I'm asked that day do I go by that day or at the lowest weight I've been? x

You could use a trend app. I use this https://trendweight.com on PC, but there are phone apps as well (Libra for Android and Happy Scale for iOS)
Edit: As for logging my weight here, it logs itself automatically for me because I have it linked to my fitbit and my fitbit to trendweight. I use fitbit to record my daily weigh ins.
What these apps do is that they calculate a moving average of your weigh ins for the last X number of days and give you a value called "trend weight". I use that if asked how much I've lost.
Keep in mind if you are going to be using trendweight it needs at least a month of data to start giving you accurate results.1 -
Hi, I weigh everyday and if asked I will tell what I've lost on that day.
Even though I weigh every day, I choose one day to "compare" my weight to the previous week - I started weighing on a Monday so as long as I'm under what I was the Monday before I'm happy.
Also keep in mind that yes, weight fluctuates but as long as you have a downward trend on your graph that matters.

Thanks both. That makes complete sense. I thought for a moment that it was a silly question but your answers have made me feel better! Thank you x0

I weigh myself daily, chart in in Excel, and am only concerned that the overall trend stays down.
I gain at ovulation and right before my TOM. Because of this (and because Lyle McDonald said to) I compare myself to last month, not last week.
Now that I'm @ 20 pounds from my goal weight, my weight loss has slowed and I log into MFP once per month.1 -
I weigh myself everyday for two reasons. It's nice to see the down and some accountability with the up. I agree with using one of the week for comparison (Monday works for me) but I find knowing that there is a weigh-in tomorrow helps me pause before I eat something not planned or skip a gym visit.
Good luck to you.

I weigh daily and see gains twice a month. Fluctuations are the reason I do daily weigh ins. For me it's related to TOM and ovulation. I don't let the gains effect me if I know I've been on the right track. As long as it's trending down overall I'm good. If people do happen to ask about weight lost I give it to them in 5's. Like I've lost 25lbs or 30lbs. Today for example I'm at 37lbs down but if asked I'll say 35.2

I weigh every day and write my weight down on paper, but I only log it on MFP if my weight is lower than my last lowest weight. I do it like that because it makes the graph on MFP easier for my eyes to see what's going on.2

I weigh and log (almost) daily. It can be annoying at times, but I find it helpful to get me back on track if I start gaining more than a day or two in a row, and to show me how I react to certain foods & activities. For example, there's a breakfast buffet my family eats at one or two times a month, and I've noticed the scale is always up the following day, even when I'm within my calories, because I end up eating more salty foods than normal and retaining water. Mine also fluctuates with my "cycles". My numbers are high enough that I just round off if anyone asks how much I lost, but I can see that being an issue for a smaller number.1

I weigh and log my weight every day. I'd go crazy if I only did so once a week; I'd be anxious about it, I think. If anyone asks, I tell them "around such-and-such", meaning a round figure that's an average for that week. It's not like they're going to whip out a scale on the spot and demand that I step on it.1
