Have you had a chance yet to read any of the Most Helpful Posts ( must reads ) stickied at the top of each forum section? There's some great info there, especially on the Getting Started and General Diet boards.

The basics are:
Eat foods that you like in portion sizes that fit your goals.
Get plenty of fats & protein for health and satiety.
Get plenty of fruits & veggies for the micronutrients.
Fill in the rest of your calories with carbs, sweets, and treats as you see fit.
There are no foods that you must avoid, just like there are no foods that you must include in your diet. You may find as you progress that there are some foods you don't consider worth the calories, but that's going to be highly individual. Start logging for a few days and make changes as you go along until you find what works best for you.
Do some exercise if you can. And some kind of resistance or strength training if you can. Any movement can help,.so pick whatever program or activity you enjoy.3 -
There are no quick fixes, @sonia9240 , but if you eat within the calorie limits that this website sets for you, you will lose weight. One pound per week is safe and sustainable. You don't have to exercise, but it helps. Taking a brisk walk every day is a great place to start.2

Thanks so much..0

Well I'm doing this fast diet thing..0

When I first joined mfp, I just logged my food and tried to stay within the calorie goal it set for me. I had no idea what calorie counting was like or how much I was eating before that. I also bought 30 Day Shred--did that in the mornings before work and then walked on the treadmill, ran at the park, or did circuits on machines after work.
Try logging your food for a week and see what happens. Make small changes to your diet and exercise. See what makes you feel good and what you can stick to.0 -
Well thanks so much for that I'm doing this fasting diet thing0

Remember starvation hormones kick in after something like 3 days - your body will change your metabolism to do more with less food - ie you will actually end up gaining more weight eating the same amount of food - the wrong diet can actually make you fatter in the long run - better to lose it slow and steady by making small changes0

Intermittent fasting is not starving yourself. On the fast diet, you eat normally 5 days per week, and eat only one meal on the other 2 (nonconsecutive) days.
Everybody experiences a metabolic adaptation to weight loss. Your total daily energy needs (TDEE) to support yourself at 120 lbs are much lower than your caloric needs when you are at 250 lbs. So, while it is true that you will gain weight if you eat "the same amount" of food as you did before you lost the weight, it is because your TDEE is different for your new smaller body, and you are simply overeating. Not because of "starvation hormones."
After 2 or 3 days of fasting, your brain is using ketone bodies from fat burning as fuel. Starvation ensues when the fat reserves are completely exhausted and protein (muscle) is the only fuel source available to the body.

Welcome Sonia!
How much weight do you want to lose? What calorie goal did MFP give you? Are you weighing your food on a food scale and logging everything you eat? Or are you just doing "the fasting thing"...whatever that is.
Weight loss comes down to calories in<calories out: you have consume fewer calories than you burn. How you do that is up to you, but fasting is not necessary.0 -
Well I want to lose provably 10lbs . I'm healthy but I just want to tone my body cause I look fat. See my thighs is fat & never gonna get a flat stomach so I don't like the way I look . I don't know what else to do.. I workout out the gym 3x a day. Only diet that helps me is fast diet .0
-
What is fast diet? Like intermittent fasting? Or drastically cutting calories to lose weight faster?0
-
You should probably go with a moderate or slight deficit, and strength train. You'll end up leaner and tighter when adding strength training than with diet alone.0

Thanks0

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "fast diet", though. A few people here have wondered and you refuse to explain. I hope you're not doing anything unhealthy/dangerous. With only 10 lbs to lose, I don't see why fasting is necessary. And it certainly won't help you"tone" your thighs.1

It's call intermittent fasting . That's the diet I'm doing.. I was 185lbs before I lost 40lbs.. But I stopped doing that diet & I gain weight . My goal is between 120lbs to 125lbs0

OK, intermittent fasting. Just one of many ways to eat at a caloric deficit. You stopped eating at a deficit so you gained weight. Start eating at a deficit again and you'll lose weight.
PS--Congrats on the weight loss so far!1 -
You work out at the gym 3x a day?!? What kind of workouts do you do each time? For how long?
Please be careful to not overdo it. You can make yourself prone to injury with excessive exercise. Are you eating enough to support that kind of workout regimen? Are you working out 3x a day on your fasting days?0 -
Well I do all kind of workout exercise .. Yes I'm eating enough to support what I do at the gym when I workout.. Imetittment fasting diet helps me lose weight . I started 1:00 noon @ I end at 10:00 at night.. @ I cheat on the weekends junk food0

Just because you do IF on weekdays doesn't mean you should cheat on weekends. You could easily negate your deficit.
