Tips to stay motivated and control bad willpower

I am guilty of being a complete yo-yo. One week low carb diet, the next shakes diet. I have been this way for as long as I can remember. I thought I'd be sensible and start counting calories, eating less and the right things. I have no willpower. It lasted about 4 days before I binged again. It's an eating disorder, plain and simple. I cant just have one biscuit, I have the packet. I cant have two squares of chocolate, I have the whole block.

Please help and give me some tips to control this... :(

Honestly, for me I never had motivation until I was rushed into the hospital at 302 lbs (I'm 5'6) and stayed in ICU for about four days. All my organs had shut down and it was 100% contributed to my weight. My blood pressure was 220/190 and my resting heart beats was 200 a minute. Doctor said I would have died in my sleep that night if I didn't go to the hospital. Hell, even my high blood pressure was giving me extreme eye pain and I was seeing splotches everywhere. I mean...EVERYTHING was shutting down.

I had been yo yoing for 20 years.

This placed me on track. I know it's not the answer you seek but it was fear that gave me motivation.

That was 4 months ago and I burned off 70 pounds so far. Blood pressure is 110/70 and my resting heart rate is 60 per minute. I still have 70 more to go but it motivated me to no ends. I don't want anyone to go through the hell I did.

If you can set an eating routine and stick with it for three weeks, it really helps with an eating disorder. I def had an eating disorder. After a few weeks you become accustomed to the new way and the binges are less severe. When I get a craving for sweets I'll have a skinny cow ice cream, if I have a craving for Mac and cheese, I eat 3 oz of whole wheat elbows and use cheese sparingly...I do other things to help with cravings and I keep the foods similar....I just make sure I keep it within my daily calorie intake

Also make your lunches for the whole work week on your Sunday. These keeps you from stopping at little Caesars :). I cook a pot roast on Sunday and every morning I cut off 3 oz, place it on two whole wheat bread, horse radish...omg lol. And it's 340 calories

Also, my food diary is open to the public so feel free to look around.

Stop doing all kinds of things. Don't try to eat "the right things". Eat food you like, but in sensible portions. Calorie counting is an easy way to exert portion control, but if you think it's too difficult, for whatever reason that can't be resolved, you can use the "No S Diet" or "The Hacker's diet" or "The plate model", which aren't diets, just learning material for structured eating. Also, please take a look at What is normal eating?

Don't rely on your willpower. Willpower is like a muscle, and it can be strengthened, but it also gets tired when you exhaust it, so save it for when all other strategies have failed. Motivation is also an unreliable and unpredictable friend. Instead, be determined, and set yourself up for success. If you have an eating disorder, get professional help. But if your binges are things like a block of chocolate and a packet of biscuits, just stop buying it, then you can't eat it.

I also agree. If you feel you have an eating disorder you should get some medical help.
To lose the weight is actually a very simple process. It's just a matter of calories in vs. Calories out with some exercise nothing hard today. Here comes the really the tough part. Finding a reason why I want to do it. once you find out why the actual process become simple.

First of all you have to decide that you're worth it. The next step is to find a why. The why has to be totally selfish. It can't be for the kids it can be for your significant other it totally has to be about you. Once you find that totally selfish why all the other why will take care of themselves.

The other thing I want to add is don't look at this as a diet. By looking at this as a diet you're doomed to fail. Look at this as a lifestyle change. I haven't given up anything I enjoy. I still enjoy a Wendy's hamburger, a couple beers on the beach and a slice or two of pizza. If I had to give those up I could have never done this.

Without knowing your statistics or Lifestyle the only thing I can guess is that you're denying yourself the things you like by going on your various diets. By denying those things that you enjoy you're depriving yourself and when the Temptation finally comes back, you can't help yourself.

There are simply some things I don't keep in the house because I can't stop at one serving. It helps me. And having lots of fresh fruit and veggies around to munch on if I'm hungry.

OP, have you read Brain over Binge? It's a great read, and I found it useful.
