Here comes 40!!

I'm 3 months out from my 40th birthday and really motivated to get in shape and feel awesome in my skin as I enter my 4th decade.
I have 10kgs to loose so think it's definitely doable, it's just a matter of sticking to it and not falling off the wagon into a heaving pile of cream donuts and fried foods as I so often do.
So, I'm introducing myself here and hope to be a regular contributor to the messageboards so I can be amongst like-minded people and stay on track!
Being involved in Dry July (a fundraising campaign for local Cancer charities in which you abstain from alcohol for the whole month of July) has started me off on a good footing...but I've also rejoined the gym and plan to use MFP religiously.

Another quick question I have (as have many others I imagine)...I'm REALLY struggling to get anywhere near my daily calorie allowance. I eat a large lunch and dinner (never been a breakfast person, so have a vitamin drink instead) as well as dessert and am usually 200-400 calories below my net allowance. I've read that it's recommended you eat these but I just can't see the point of wolfing down a chocolate bar or other high calorie item when I'm not hungry or hankering for one.

I'm right there with you...exactly 2 months to the big 4-0! NOOOOOOOOO! I'm dragging my feet and digging my heels in with every day that passes, but I'm working out like crazy and will be in the best shape of my life when that tragic day comes.
You can't eat all your calories, huh? Bummer! Wish I had that problem. Try something simple like adding a greek yogurt into your day as a snack (bonus extra protein intake too), or maybe change your morning vitamin drink to a smoothie and slip a little peanut butter in there. Eezy peezy!

I'm actually really looking forward to 40 - latent masochism maybe?!
Am adding some extra nuts some days and having a banana peanut butter muffin (recipe found on this site, no flour, no sugar, no butter/oil - and they actually taste GOOD) for breakfast every day. Still 200-300 short most days (more if I have an extended workout, but I don't think anyone could accuse me of not eating enough!
Let me know how 40 feels, seeing as you're getting there a month before me!0
