They are generally "worth it" if they improve your ability to adhere to your diet.
They are generally "not worth it" if they negatively effect your ability to adhere to your diet.

I found it easy to stick to 16/8 IF for weight maintenance, but it didn't really work for weight LOSS for me.
Carb cycling? Meh, overly complex for 99% of people who are interested in losing weight. Calorie cycling where, for instance, you eat 500 calories on Su/T/Th, and 1800 calories the other days. I think that's totally doable if it helps you stick to an overall budget of calories on average.
The very most important thing for weight loss is a calorie deficit. Vegan, keto, paleo, IF, calorie cycling, not eating after 4 pm... whatever YOU have to do to stick to a reasonable calorie deficit for your goals without feeling deprived or urges to binge is what YOU should do.5 -
I'm currently calorie cycling and I love it! I eat 1200 calories 3 days, 1100 1 day,1300 1 day, 1500 1 day and 1000 one day. I've been on it almost 2 weeks and its pretty easy so far.1

Fasting is where all your calories are eaten during a certain time window, and carb cycling is where stagger your carb intake for a certain purpose. The bottom line is both of these ways of eating are a way of life for many and helps them stick to a calorie deficit if they are trying to lose weight, or a calorie balance if they are trying to maintain. The only magic in any way of eating is the magic we give it.
Finally, there is no program out there where you will lose fat if you don't eat at a calorie deficit.
Find whatever program helps you stick to a calorie deficit and you will lose weight.3 -
I have PCOS. I have had a very successful loss of 85 so far. Just got stuck and went and seen a trainer he set me up with carb cycling and added in strength training. He switched alot of stuff up. I document everything i do on MFP if you wanna add me and take a peak.1
